What does it take to get a handgun in Washington State?
We get a lot of questions about the handgun safety certificate and exemptions. People want to know what documents are needed, who can buy a firearm, the safe handling demonstration, proof of residence requirements and many other handgun related issues. What you need to buy a handgun!
- You must be a Washington resident with a valid Washington ID or driver's license.
- If you're active military stationed in Washington, you'll need to present your military ID and your PCS orders.
- To buy a handgun or Semi-automatic rifle you must be at least 21 years of age.
- To buy a rifle or shotgun you must be at least 18 years of age.
- Any felony and certain misdemeanors will prevent purchase of any firearm.
We are also happy to receive firearms purchased on the various gun auction sites. Just send me an email with the sellers name and address, your name and what the item is and I will mail out the FFL. You deal directly with the seller for payment. Read More>>
Rules for Sound Loan Firearm Safety
- All firearms brought into the store (except personal carry firearms) will be checked in at the counter with a store staff member.
- Any personal carry firearms will remain holstered.
- Any personal carry firearms being un-holstered must be checked in at the counter with a store staff member.
- All firearms being checked at the counter will be cleared by store staff only.
- All firearms (pistols or long guns) shipped to Sound Loan will be cleared by a store staff member prior to customer inspection.
